vs Birdeye

The software isn't the complaint. The contract is.

Birdeye is a bigger product with a harder contract. If you want everything in one suite and can live with a twelve-month term, they're a serious option.

Buy Birdeye instead if

Multi-location brands that want reviews, listings, messaging, surveys and social in one suite, with a dedicated account team.

The problem

Birdeye is a capable, mature platform. Most people who leave don't leave because it stopped working.

What it costs

They leave because cancelling requires ninety days of written notice, and missing that window rolls them into another twelve months. There are documented cases of billing continuing after cancellation was requested in writing — one business filed requests in October, November and December 2025 and was still charged $3,150 in January 2026.

What we do

We're month to month, cancel in the app, no notice period. That's the entire difference in commercial terms — and it's the one that shows up in their reviews rather than ours.

Credit where it’s due

What Birdeye is genuinely good at

A comparison page that can’t find anything good to say about a competitor isn’t a comparison. It’s an advert.

Genuinely broad

Reviews, listings, messaging, surveys, social and their Search AI product in one place. We do not match that breadth and won't pretend to.

Built for scale

Hundreds or thousands of locations with account management to match. If that's you, take them seriously.

Anti-gating on record

Birdeye removed sentiment pre-checks from its surveys in 2018 and says plainly that it does not allow review gating. Credit where it's due — most of this category still sells the filter.

Why people leave

The documented reasons, not our guesses

  1. 01

    Auto-renewal caught them out

Cancellation requires ninety days' written notice; miss it and the term renews for another twelve months. This is the single most frequent complaint.

  2. 02

    Billing continued after they cancelled

A business submitted cancellation via ticket, phone and email across October, November and December 2025 and was still charged $3,150 in January 2026. Another sent four emails between January and April while card charges continued.

  3. 03

Delivered less than the demo showed

Recurring G2 themes: functionality below what was promised, slow follow-through on implementation requests, and upselling after disengagement.

  4. 04

    Per-location cost compounds

At a few hundred dollars per location per month, a five-to-twenty site operator's bill scales faster than the value does.

Being fair about it

Birdeye is not a bad product and we're not going to imply it is. If you need listings management, survey programs and a suite-wide rollout across hundreds of sites, they will serve you better than we will. Our argument is narrower: if what you actually need is reviews collected properly and answered fast, you shouldn't have to sign a year to get it.

Every claim above traces to one of these. Where a figure comes from a third-party tracker rather than the vendor, we’ve said so — Birdeye and Podium both gate their pricing, so published numbers are directional.
